A well made belt but ineffective Mar 06, 2009 (This review is for the Far Infrared Sauna Belt ANP-56G model.)
This Belt is advertised as a low voltage (36V), 52 inches long and about 9 inches wide with full coverage of far infrared (FIR) heat throughout the Belt.
Yes, it is about 9 inches wide but it is only 48 inches long. The heating wires start at about 4 inches from one end of the Belt and run along for about 26-27 inches. After that, there is no heating effect from the Belt (at least we couldn't feel any).
The actual heating itself I don't believe is of the beneficial far infrared type (which should be around between 8 and 10 µm). Simply, I did not feel there is deep heat penetration with this Belt. But if you just want general heating up near the surface of your body, this is a fine, very well built belt. Very good stitching and appears to be made from good quality materials.
It comes with a separate Control Box, which is quite large and heavy. This Control Box has its own built-in fan to keep it cool (I wonder why). The digital temperature can be set between 30 and 60°C (or 86 to 140°F) in 1 degree increments. But because of the low voltage, it doesn't feel that hot even on high heat. There is also a digital timer in 5-minute increments up to 95 minutes.
The cable connecting the Belt to the Control Box is very sturdy and secure.
I've rated this Belt 3 stars because of the short coverage of the heating elements in the Belt and because the heat generated is not the deep penetrating type for therapeutic benefits. (For deep penetration effects, the Thermotex FIR heating pads are much better, but the pads themselves are not flexible, so they cannot be used as a belt around the body.)
